DEBORA MOORE

ARTIST STATEMENT
Debora Moore is a glass artist who has exhibited widely throughout the United States. Her sculptures are comprised entirely of blown and sculpted glass, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of orchids.

Debora studied at both the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, and the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA where she was awarded scholarships in 1990, 1992 and 1995. She has been an instructor at Pilchuck, Pratt and at Tacoma Seattle’s Hilltop Artist in Residence Program. In 1998, she was accepted as a member in the African American Design Archive at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution in New York. Her work was also included in the prestigious “Artistry of Orchids” Exhibition held in 2000 at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. In 2002 her work was purchased for inclusion in the collection of Philander Smith College, Donald W. Reynolds Library & Technology Center.

Some of Debora’s most recent group exhibitions have included the Annual International Glass Invitational held by Habatat Galleries in Royal Oak, MI., and she was also a featured artisan in the Flora Arts Symposium held at the Harbourfront Art Center in Toronto Canada. This past spring a large suite of her most recent wall sculptures was recently on exhibit at the Muskegon Museum of Art and a piece was selected for inclusion to their permanent collection.
