There are nine bundles of twigs in an arrangement, which flows from lower left to upper right, from a bundle with dark opaque colors to one which contains light transparent colors. Each bundle is suspended from the wall by a steel wall mount, and each is unique and is individually named. (CONCEPT:
SHIFT was created during the spring of 2006, as I recovered from cancer
surgery and regained my energy. My cancer was very early stage and required
no follow up treatment; however, confronting my own mortality had a profound
effect upon me. The concept of the piece expresses a shift in my perception
of who I am and how I want to live my life. Each bundle represents a separate
step in that process of transformation.)

![]() CLICK IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW Accordion Book:“The Old Note” 10 x 16 x 6” Borosilicate glass, flameworked, sandblasted, photo images $3200 The poem and photo images by L. LINDSEY MEARS contained on the pages of this book create a haunting mood in which the reader is left to conjure up answers to the questions left by the message conveyed through the words of the poem. The book
as glass sculpture is a linear portrayal of the content of the poem
in an undulating and unfolding offering shared with the viewer. The
glass twigs, which form the connections of the book, remind the viewer
once again of our rootedness in and dependence upon the earth.
The haunting poem and photo images by L. LINDSEY MEARS contained on the pages of this book create the mood of a moment in time. A once-inhabitant returns to a previous existence, which is now altered from the reality the reader understands it once contained. The reader is left with unanswered mental queries and a sense of longing. The book as glass sculpture portrays the dreamlike visages of the person of the poem looking out through the covers as an apparition conveying the message from the melancholy interior. The translucent pages of the book create a feeling that this is a spiritual encounter.
