ARTIST STATEMENT
As I am fascinated by the human experience and our ability to emote or
suppress, glass is the perfect medium through which to explore these aspects
of human nature. Like human nature, glass is fluid one moment and frigid
the next. This allows me to speak not only through the process, but it’s
metaphor.
Within this series I have turned the metaphorical literal by giving the
glass a face. I use expression as a window into the human experience.
I strive to convey a captured moment, be it joy contemplation, fear reminiscence,
or nightmare. Focusing on one moment within a scenario, I freeze the frame
until time stops and is captured within an expression. Here my story ends,
for it is not the story I wish to expose-only a reflection. It is now
that I invite the viewer to engage in their own dialogue using the piece
as a muse to create their own characters, exposition, and denouement.
