Statement
This body of work investigates the complimentary relationship between
the tangible and the intangible worlds and how they compliment one another.
In this work, the ephemeral shadows and light are of equal importance
as the glass. Together, the light and the glass exemplify how the tangible
and intangible enhance and complete one another.
I am exploring the dynamic qualities of hot glass and how it can be manipulated to project and reflect light. The main building block of this work is a “drop” of hot glass. I take the glass directly from the furnace and let it fall onto a flat surface. By varying the number, size, and configuration of these drops the individual pieces are created. In this group of work I have chosen to work with clear glass to emphasize the importance of the light reflections.
My work is a synthesis of all that I have ever sensed. It is a material expression of all that I know to date. I strive to create art that inspires the appreciation of light, magic and the power of the material world.
