Jessica Cope

ABOUT JESSICA
Jessica Cope began working with glass at Alfred University in 1995. She initially decided to attend the New York State College of Ceramics because of her infatuation with clay, but after only a few days watching students working in the hot shop at AU she was hooked on glass as well. After graduating from NYSCC at Alfred with her BFA in 1998, Jessica spent 3 months teaching ceramics in rural Japan. She returned to the U.S. and spent a year assisting here and there in Seattle. She soon returned to her midwestern roots, settling back into the gentle pace of St. Louis. Jes began teaching computer art and web design classes at the University of Missouri, St. Louis in 2001, and founded a small ceramic department there in 2003. She continues to divide her time between clay and glass, teaching at UMSL and at the Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis.
